Anyone taken an LX470 Outside Rearview Mirror Assembly apart?

The FSM does not say how to take it apart. Only to replace the whole thing if bad.

My RH Mirror up/down function quit. Either a bad connection (I hope) or a bad motor or jammed gearing etc. inside the unit.

IF it is impossible to buy internal parts, and/or impossible to take it apart & put it back together without breaking it, it would be nice to know these things before doing surgery on it.

TIA for any useful info.

Someone last year (I think) on the 80 forum took theirs apart to add a turn signal indicator...you might do a search to see. And the 80 is probably the same or at least very close in design to the 100.

I had a new mirror cut for mine, IIRC it hangs over the top of the mounting bracket(which the motors work on) and then you push the bottom in and it snaps into place, therefore I would try to pull it out at the bottom (may need a screwdriver to push/release a plastic clip? then it will lift up and unhook off the top of the mounting frame. Good Luck!

If you get it off, a few photos of the inside and the way it hooks in and releases would be good to put into the FAQ!

LX Rear Mirrors

My 2000 LX had the outside mirror "automatic tilt in reverse" feature quit. However, I noticed that the mirrors showed a hint of movement when they should have started to move. Service department (it was still under warranty at the time) said this indicated it was the interior switch that had gone bad. They replaced just the switch, everthing has worked fine for years.
