Did my conversion from a horribly unreliable AHC system to a Slee lift with dif drop about 5 years ago. The AHC system was more "disabled" than fully removed. There are still remnants of AHC components and lines here and there. The disablement and install of the Slee set up cost me about $800. My mechanic was really smitten with the engineering and the quality of the Slee components. He said it installed like a dream.

I have never looked back and could not be happier.

I think this is about right, pretty close to what I paid I think.

However, I would think the labor cost would vary considerably based on the amount of rust involved.

It cost me around $900can. I bought a used slee heavy springs. OME torsion bars. KYB shocks, they are short but my LX is just a mall cruiser. Modified my oem diff bracket. Im with this set up for 6 months, firmer ride but im happy no more ahc headaches.

Just drop send a quote request to Christo from their website. I got back a full PDF estimate that broke out the full removal of AHC, new OME standard build options and install labor. All fine-tuned after you discuss your specific needs with them.

Would reflect the high end of most estimates, but good starting point.

Figure roughly 4-4.5 hours to remove the AHC (if they know what they're doing) and 4-4.5 hours to install the new suspsension.

I'll say that while it can be a bit of a shock to see the total for a whole bunch of work laid out all at once like that, Slee's prices are competitive with just about anybody. I ended up taking a 3-day trip up to Golden to have them work on my truck. They were priced the same or better than anybody I talked to locally, and I was more confident in their ability to do the work correctly than anybody else I talked to. YMMV.

I did the same thing, when I lived in Vegas 3 years ago. Great work.

it's approaching absurd, when you add all those man-hours, 3-day trips to a specialist to do the job, etc. isn't your time worth anything? Looks like total is getting close to have it properly repair and enjoy. Safety: is this system a part of emergency avoidance maneuver algos like in some fun German vehicles? If it is, I would think twice. Call me a retrograde and stalwart..

Is my time worth anything? Yes, it's worth a lot, at least to me. That's usually the argument made for paying somebody to do something instead of doing it yourself.

Putting in a traditional suspension, even paying somebody to do it, is still cheaper than replacing the AHC. Those globes are expensive. And if you're like me, the bigger issue is that you've added a bunch of weight to the vehicle and the AHC won't handle it properly - at least not long-term. Your only real option at that point is to put in some kind of traditional heavy-duty suspension. Then it's just a matter of what is your time worth, and if you're paying somebody to do the work, are you confident in their ability?

And no, the AHC isn't part of any "collision avoidance maneuver algos".

Ripped out the ahc 4+ years ago for a medium OME from Slee with diff drop.

Still have to pull the AHC ECU wire (ala Kurt) to kill the blinking light but have gotten used to it.

Given every second new thread is AHC related, glad it is gone!

Fwiw we've done many AHC removals in the shop. Labor for a full AHC removal (compressor, lines, lights, switches, etc) and a full OME install is $700-900 depending on the specifics of the OME install, diff drops, upper-control arms, etc.

Nevermind, reading comprehension turned back on and I see that price is for labor.

Does anyone know of a shop who has expertise with AHC replacement and suspension installs in the Phoenix AZ or Northern AZ area?
