So both of the LVs that I have owned, had the exhaust run under the frame and a muffler under the driver side rocker with the exhaust exiting in front of the driver rear tire.

Does anyone know if that would have been the factory placement for an LV?

Thanks

Yes, that is factory routing and placement.

I don't think there is room to get past the gas tank to exit behind the tire.

It routes pretty much the same as a FJ55 did. From the motor to under the driver side rocker then out behind the rear tire. There is room. Looking at my parts catalog, it may have been done both ways.

My set up is under the truck then routes out behind the rear tire.

Not sure if this helps or muddies the waters but the parts schematic makes it look like it dumps out on top of the rear axle??

These factory sales brochure might hint at the same thing since I can't make out an exhaust pipe exiting in front or behind the rear wheel

Just confirming the above with some photos of my 1967. Pretty much conforms to @ClemsonCruiser 's diagram.
