Standyne fuel treatment

The guys at the injection shop recomended using standyne fuel conditioner. Its really reasonable at about 70.00 a case. i have been using it in my Hilux and my townace for about a year.

My understanding from NW Fuel Injection and Valley Fuel Injection is that the luibricant products such as Standyne are excellent lubricants. However, they both say that there is no product yet which replaces the aromatics need to keep rubber seals in good condition. At the same time, I understand from the biofuel forums that biodiesel will swell rubber seals and counter act seal shrinkage and cracking from ULSD. However, at the same time biodiesel in higher percentage mixes will over time soften and break down natural rubber seals and hoses. I have never found any documentation on which concentration is best or safe for rubber seals and hoses over the long run. Perhaps others on here know better. My solution was to pull my IP and have all the seals replaced with the newer viton seals. With one seal already leaking, I was not willing to take the chance of the IP shaft seal leaking and pumping diesel into my crank case oil. Even with the seal retrofit, I will still continue to use Standyne for the extra lubrication. It is cheap insurance against another costly IP failure. Happy New Year, John

I just had to replace my mothers VW diesel IP , we have had these vw's since the mid 70's never had a pump problem ....but now . So iam abit worried about the hilux

standyne fuel conditioner - who sells it?

NW Fuel Injection and Valley Fuel Injection (AKA BD Power) both sell it. I am sure other diesel shops also sell it. If you have replaced the IP it should have the new Viton seals. I believe that all VWs used the VE style pumps which require adequate lubriaction from the diesel. With the new seals, you shouldn't worry about the lack of aromatics in ULSD but only lubrication - so the Standyne Lubricity formula will work for you.
