Anyone else had a lower oil galley plug fail? These lie at the bottom of the block, both front and back. On my 93 FZJ80, the lower front plug worked loose at ~80K mi. It is behind the timing chain cover, so wasn't noticed until oil started pouring from the chain cover seal. Lots of labor to fix, to the tune of $1200.

Cruiserdan had the same failure on the front of the block behind the timing chain cover. He has a long thread on the repair. He will probably chime in but if he doesn't, I believe he would advise you to do the HG at the same time. There are 3 ways to get the timing chain cover off; by removing the #1 and #2 oil pans or by removing the head, or (the FSM way) by removing both the head and the oil pans.

Dan also has a '93.
