I've seen threads in the past that refer to the lower ball joint boot kits, and I see that the kit exists in the diagrams on toyotapartszone and lexuspartsnow, however none of the sites have it available for order.

Part number is 43345-69045.

So does that mean only option now is to replace the ball joint with non-oem (oem doesn't make replacement joint alone, right?) or replace the whole control arm?

Here are the other threads I was referring to:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/375827-ball-joint-boots.html
and
https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/392966-lower-ball-joint-questions.html

Interestingly, the lower boot kit referenced above (43345-69015 for lower ball joint) IS available for purchase. Not sure what the difference is b/w 43345-69015 and 43345-69045 other than earlier years use the 69015 and later years look like they use the 69045 - should they be interchangeable?

That is correct.

-69015 is for the earlier years, -69045 is for the later years.

According to Toyota, that 43345-69045 is an "invalid" part number; i.e., not available.

43345-69015 is a legit part number. It's only about $9.58 MUD price. There are 13 in the country.

I got the same invalid part number when searching for the -69045, but it came straight from their parts diagram so it is a legit part number just not for sale I guess. Strange, right? Does that mean it used to be for sale and they don't have any more or it was never for sale - and then why is it on the diagram?

Since the 69045 is not available, think it's possible to use the 69015 for later models? If not, the other options would be to get aftermarket ball joints that come with the boot, or to get a full control arm replacement ($$)?

I betcha the -69015 would work...

But I cannot be sure at all without looking at the part and comparing to what's on the rig.

But for $12 or you can't go wrong.
