I showed my son how to do front brakes on his '85 4Runner yesterday. When we pulled the calipers, one was shot- off to the parts store. Got them changed out, new pads, bled the brakes. Everything works well, but the pedal is a lot lower than before. I bled the brakes again just to make sure, no change. They work fine, I just can't figure out why the pedal is so much lower- Any insight? Thanks.

not sure, but if the one shot caliper was not working, that might be why the pedal did not travel all the way down. considering that the fluid in that caliper was not moving the pistons.

Did they accidentally give you V6 calipers that have the larger 4 pistons? This will take more pedal travel to move the pistons the same distance.

Time to upgrade to a 1" master cylinder...

Didn't let the master cyl. Run dry while at the parts store, did you
If so you'll need to bleed it as well

Just a thot

Try bringing up the rear adjustment (if needed) to raise pedal
like toy4xfun said it that caliiper was frozen you were only pushing to good caliper
Rear adjust might give you a better pedal

No, I pinched off the hoses. I'll try to adjust the rear and see if that helps. The calipers looked the exact same if that means anything. Thanks for the input.
