Update... I rebuilt the carb and the idle has been restored. The carb had a fair amount of extremely fine, black residue in the bowl that could easily have been blocking the idle circuit(s). The rubber boot around the accelerator pump shaft had deteriorated and had many tears. But now that I’ve gotten a good look at my carb I’m confused about what version I really have, and also what modifications may have been done to the carb and the engine.
I’m going to start a new thread with lots of photos, probably with the subject line, “help me identify my carb and engine modifications “. It does seem clear this truck was desmogged. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this.
