Well, this is depressing. I was planning on putting this in my rig, but my life circumstances have changed and I’m going to be selling the 80 in the near future.

So here’s the story with this. I bought it a few months ago from a fellow mudder. He was up in the Bay Area, I’m down in LA. It’s an FZJ80, complete third member, with a Spartan Locker already installed. The locker was installed he George at Valley Hybrids, and it was also totally rebuilt (new seals, bearings/races, etc.) at that time. He ran it in his rig for just 12k miles, before he decided to upgrade to a selectable locker. Besides some dirt on the outside, the thing is basically in brand new condition. There are literally no signs of wear. If you told me this was a brand new third member, I’d probably believe you. I’ve kept it coated in oil this whole time so there’s no rust or anything like that.

Im asking $600 for the whole thing. I’ll also include a brand new, OEM Toyota gasket (part number 42181-6006) along with it. I’m located in LA, but I’m willing to meet anywhere within an hour of south central LA. I guess I could ship it, but it weighs about 80lbs so the shipping alone would be pretty costly.

Bump. Still for sale. I still think $600 is a pretty good price, but I am a reasonable man, so feel free to offer alternative opinions.

if only i had an 80 glws

Haha thanks, I'm surprised nobody has jumped on it yet. A new Spartan is like $300, so you could buy this, sell your third member for about $300, and you're basically getting a professionally rebuilt third member for free.

Is that sarcasm? Used third members with hundreds of thousands of miles go for like $250-300...
Maybe in SoCal where every thing is over priced, but I got a complete 3rd for $100 and an empty one for free. I'm not saying that a fresh locker and fresh master install isn't worth $600 but you might be sitting on it a while.

I was just going off of the going rate on eBay, which is about $300 (there's one posted right now for $300 and several more that have sold for $300 recently). But if you can find a good deal on one, yes you can find them a bit cheaper than that. But of course you're getting a unit with unknown miles that almost certainly should be rebuilt anyway, which is gonna run you a decent chunk of change.

Well ya, I'm going 5.29s and Eaton lockers. It's all coming out anyway. Like I said, there's $600 in parts but not everyone wants a lunchbox locker and stock gears. I try to tell people that something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay. The toyota tax is extremely high.
