Is there any other reliable shop on the west side of LA/SFV besides K&H? I've been going there for years, but they have become very expensive (quoted me almost $900 to replace a valve cover gasket and over $1,500 for the rack and pinion).

You might check these guys. They posted on a thread asking for mechanics in our Southern California Land Cruisers Clubhouse. I’ve never had work done there, but my club met them on a Monache Meadows run a while ago. They seemed like nice guys. Had a nicely built FJ45 with them.
