I’m really bummed to be selling this. I bought it in July 2021 and planned to keep it forever, but recently got a job offer I can’t refuse. I’ll be moving to Nice, France in about a month and need to sell this relatively quickly. Rather than keep this in storage, I want to sell so I can import a 70 series cruiser when I move back to the US. This car has been *extensively* baselined. See this spreadsheet of all the maintenance I did here: LX 470 - maintenance / repair log - https://imgur.com/a/RNR7HKh.

From a reliability standpoint, this thing is rock solid. This rig has been a California/Idaho/Texas rig its whole life. No rust aside from some minor surface rust. I’ve driven it cross country (Los Angeles to Maryland) twice in the winter with no issues. I spent about 9 months in Maryland but coated the undercarriage with fluid film before, so no rust issues from the salty roads.

I used this car as a daily driver / hunting rig. Never did any serious wheeling but lots of mild off-roading to get to remote hunting locations.

Here is a summary of upgrades/repairs. If you are a serious buyer, please check out the spreadsheet that has a lot more details.

Reupholstered leather front seats (Lseat, installed myself)
HID headlight retrofit (Morimoto Mini H1 retrofit kit with brackets from LBBuiltWorks on ih8mud, installed myself. These lights are INCREDIBLE. Super bright, but with a very sharp cut off so you don’t blind traffic.)
Dissent Off-road modular front bumper
Rigid Flood ditch lights wired to fog light switch
Rigid Flood lights wired to high beam switch
Iron man roof rack (with Gamiviti roof rack mounts)
White Knuckle Off-road frame sliders (10 degree)
Sumo Gear 10% underdrive for transfer case high range (equivalent of 4.56 differential ratios). This basically makes all the gears (in Hi and Lo) 10% lower. It has been really nice for offroading or towing up steep grades.
Toyo Open Country AT3 tires in 285/75R16 (only driven ~12000 miles)
King Springs heavy duty rear springs
Firestone rear air bags
Super Start Platinum battery
Front and rear Thinkware F200 dash cams (record while driving + motion activated while parked)
Kenwood head unit with backup camera
Kenwood amplifier
Weathertech floor mats for front, rear, and cargo area
Tekonsha Primus IQ brake controller and 7-pin tow plug
Fire extinguisher, 3rd row seats included
Lots of extra stuff (spare parts, hi lift jack, traction boards, etc. will be included for free if you want - see photo albums)

Timing Belt done at 186,000 miles. Oil changed every 3-5k miles. Over the past 1.5 years, I replaced the serpentine belt, fan bracket, belt tensioner, spark plugs, engine valve gaskets, fuel filter, rebuilt power steering rack and power steering pump myself, replaced power steering lines, rebuilt oil cooler, radiator, front wheel bearings, new brake rotors and pads all around, stainless steel brake lines (Slee), rebuilt the rear axle, replaced the starter, along with all sorts of miscellaneous gaskets and bushings (see spreadsheet for details). All repairs used OEM parts except the following: new radiator is from Mishimoto, front brake rotors are DBA T3 4000 (from Slee), front & rear brake pads are EBC bluestuff (highest grade), stainless steel brake lines (from slee).

The black “paint” on the lower panels is just plastidip. The paint underneath is perfectly fine, but I just did this for a fun look. The plastidip can easily be peeled off if you don’t want it. On a related note, the wheels are just OEM and spray painted. You can see in the photos that paint is missing where the wheel weights were taken off. Not the prettiest thing, but it was never my priority since most of my time/money was spent on maintenance rather than looks.

From a reliability standpoint, this thing is good to go like I said. For a 22 year old truck, this thing is in great condition, but there are some minor issues which are mostly aesthetic. I try to detail most of those things in the pictures. The biggest “issue” in my mind is that a small leak in the exhaust manifold. This leads to a ‘ticking’ sound at certain RPMs. This is a known issue that occurs when 100 series get to this age. I’ve talked to two mechanics plus read a lot about this, and aside from it just being annoying, its not a major issue. I’ve been wanting to replace the manifolds but never got around to it. Other than that, there are some other small issues such as a couple paint chips, the motor for the radio antenna doesn’t work, etc. All fairly negligible things for a 22 year old truck.

Let me know if you’d like any other info. Hopefully I’m not missing anything!
Harrison
