i'm interested in doing this tranny swap into a fj40 or a fj45 , not sure what i want to build . ( fj45 ) . what tranny is recommended turbo 350 , 400 , or the newer ones ,700r -4, 4L60-E , to np203 doubler , anyone have any picks of this setup ? how long is this assembly ? and will it fit in a fj40 ? i probably will stretch the frame and order a fj45 cab from aqualu . any info or links would be appreciated . also any pics of frame stretching ?

Doubler will fit fine on a Th400 or a Th350 as that's what the np203 came on. Then you just use the AA adapter to mount the grb on whatever toyota transfer you want. If I had it over to do again, I'd adapt a 700R4 to the np203, it's a pretty easy deal if you're getting the 700 rebuilt. then put a split case behind that.

Engine moved as far forward as possible, raised up with a 2 inch body lift and rear springs flipped and my rear driveshaft had about 3 inches of tube with a SOA. That was without the needed CV joint or extended slip joint.

Fits amazingly well in a 55. Works amazingly well, too.

new again?

been awhile since I worked on an fj. Had a 75 with a tpi, th400, lc transfer case, stock axles. Now I own a project '73, carbureted 350, turbo 350, np203, 3/4 ton chevy axles. Want to end up with fuel injection, overdrive, and split transfer case. Just checkin in to see what everyone is doing. Awesome information on this forum
