i am 15 years old and i recently bought a 1978 toyota landcruiser in pretty good condition. it has an inline 6 engine and was purchased for $3500. i live in a family of jeep fans so it is pretty much up to me to fix it alone. i am asking for your advice/help with finding parts and productively finishing the rebuild. i am not a punk kid i am really serious about this. i would like to keep it almost all original with some exceptions. so far i need both quarter panels, drivers side rock wall panel, rear sill replacement, weather stripping, and a new air filter system... any advice will be helpful. thank you. i also have questions on a third shifter which i dont know what it is for.

So you are wise beyond your years. Many of us wish we had the forethought to purchase a 40 when we were younger.

Try the search function and the for sale sections of the forum.

One of the best things to do is to get in touch with your local club. Head over to the Clubhouse and introduce yourself. You can not beat local knowledge.

Welcome to the madness.

Glad you are here. I got my first Toyota 4wd when I was 17 but didnt get my first LC till I was 44. Wish I had started with them first. I have a son 15 that is beginning to get the bug.

You should spend as much time as you can reading this forum. There is a wealth of information here and it will take you 100's of hours to take most of it in. Learn how to use the search feature and before you ask a question, do an exhaustive search. If you still have questions, this is a good bunch of guys who are very happy to answer your questions.

If those Heep owners start helping you a little, they will soon all be cruiserheads. These trucks are built so much better than the same period CJ's that your family will take notice.

Good luck

Awesome......Everything you'll ever need is on this site I got my first cruiser when I was 20.

And have been very broke everyday sents then!

Post pics so we can see what it is your talking about and

Welcome

yer still young enough to get out before you catch the flu:D, But why in the world would you wanna do that! welcome. You have found THE PLACE for all information cruiser related- and then some.

I got my first cruiser when I was 15 too. Real beater... but I loved it and rebuilt it best I could. Did not have the internet back then so I clung to old catalogs from Downey and Spector and Man-e-fre. Everything I needed I got from them including advice. I suggest you use this forum for advice and direction and buy parts from Spector or who they direct you to.

Good luck. Everyonce in a while put the rebuild on hold and just go for a ride in it... it will renew your soul. Jeep owners can't completely relate to this.
