Looking for a header for the 80 (1 Viewer)

I would like to have a header to put back on instead of using the stock exhaust manifolds.

Does anyone know where to get one?

I am not sure its a worthy expense. The OEM manifold design functions more like a header than most manifolds in terms of flow and cooling. But here are two sources in OZ:

ask cdan he mentioned something about TRD looking into one and dropping the project because they couldn't get much improvment.

Correct.

My TRD bud told me that they looked into it and found that the stock manifolds flow very well and any gains would not even come close to offsetting the cost of the headers. If you want an improvement perhaps they can be extrude honed?

I have heard all the TRD reasons before. Fact is exhaust system mod power gains come in small doses. A header alone will never make a huge difference, therefore the header is only a start on the exhaust system mod-for-power.

Astetics are big for me. I'm doing some custom stuff under the hood and a header looks better to me that those clunky manifolds with the beer can thin heat shields.

Another option would be to go custom. Some racecar fab shop can custom build one for you. I was quoted $700.00 plus coating or you can go stainless steel.

custom look? how about an extrude hone then ceramic coating and top it off with fiberglass wrap and ditch the heat shields.

you would have spent a bunch of money (close to headers?) and it would look custom, and have some (minor) performance performance upgrades, and lower under hood heat levels without all the leak and rust problems headers have.,

or better yet save that money and just hide them by covering them up with a supercharger, nobody will notice your pie tin manifold covers ever again

OK, I didn't say astetics were EVERYTHING, but they do count. The aussie headers look ok, but nothing to write home about. May get them and have them coated silver to match rest of custom silver stuff.

It looks to me as if us cruiser heads are too far off the custom exhaust / header radar to matter to them, else they would have more stuff available for us. I see tons of Taco, Tundra, and Sequoia headers available.
