Looking at buying 83 troopy, need advice?

I'm looking at buying a 1983 lwb land cruiser it's an ex army field ambulance that was a soft top apparently converted by putting a shortie back on it. I havent seen it yet, going to look at it this week end. Its got the original 2h diesel in it with only 80,000 ks on the clock it's been kept under cover for the last 5 years. What should I look for? Common issues? What would it be like on fuel and as an everyday driver? Sound like a good buy? Cheers, matt.
