Hey gang figure I'd send out the feelers to see if anyone can help. With my new job I'm gonna be drivin back and forth to spartanburg every day..104 mile round trip. I love my cruiser but I hate puttin the miles on it just for work. Luckily the drive won't be foreever.....we're eventually gonna be workin out of mauldin but not sure when that is gonna happen. So I am lookin for a fuel efficient car and one that is dirt cheap. As long as it runs and stops I don't care what it looks like. My budget is around a thousand bucks. If anyone has one for sale, or knows a buddy that is sellin one, or ya see one on the side of the road feel free to pass on the information. Thanks for the help guys!

Chuck

Chuck pray for me to get a new truck and I'll sell you mine, gets about 30mpg highway, it just burns a little oil.

Chuck - Def not cool, fun or fast but check out the 96 and 97 model years Ford Taurus in your area. Look for one that was maintained and has around 125K miles. I just saw one here today for $1250 with those details.

Great on gas, pretty dependable (if maintained) and cheap to maintain.

My job requires lots of mileage and I've run a few of 'em into the ground for next to nothing...

Do you know anything about the ford probe gt..there is one across the street in the bilo parkin lot that has about the same miles and I think it's around that price?

Thanks guys keep em comin. When ya gonna get a new truck rudy?

Not other than I got my first speeding ticket in one doing 95 in a 45. Oh to be young and INCREDIBLY stupid again...

Don't know much about reliability, maintenance, gas mileage though... Don't see many on the road anymore around here.

No idea, its basically when my dad finds something in the price range he and my mom will spend. Hes always looking. Almost got me a 97 dodge ram and the when he went to offer it had been bought that morning. So not telling.

good luck i was looking for the same thing not long ago. but my job changed to a 1/2 mile commute. :) You ought to be able to get an older honda or yota car for that cheap. (prob less that $1K) I will keep my eyes peeled.

Wish I would have know you 2 years ago. We sold my wifes 93 honda civic with 150k in mint condition to one of my friends for 1k. It has 250k on it now. And has only had oil changes. I'll keep my eye out for you though. I always come across a deal now and then.

If you havent found anything. I saw a late 80s early 90's? Chevy Nova (the small ones not the ones like the 70's.) in Abbeville today. $700.

Let me know and I can stop and get the # this afternoon wehn we go back to church.

what you need to do is to get an apartment in downtown greenville and let me crash there 4 nights a week (for $200 a month)

you would save $$$ cause its closer to spartanburg

and I would save $$$ cause I could ride a bike to work

:)

whatcha think ?

Dont know if you found one yet or not chuck but heres an option for you. You can see it on the preview channel at about 11pm every night. They run paid ads for different things and some dude must have bought it for his car. 1989 Honda Accord LXi 161k on it $1200 probably talk him down a bit. Call 882-4124 after 6pm

Thanks...I'm goin to look at a ford ranger today that Misty's Dad found...this one sounds to be promising...has a good body on it and all, need to test drive it to check it all out.

Finally!!!!

Well I bought a 92 honda accord this morning. She has 224000 miles on the body but the engine is about 2 years old. Runs like a champ, although I do have a few things to make her run at her peak. She idles a little rough, not sure why. And she could use her tires balanced and probably a new set of shocks. But other than that she runs good. Now my wallet will like me a little better.

Later Chuck

Thats good man, Maybe you'll have time to work on your 40 now that you can get back from work 30 min earlier every day.

There's some hideously ugly station wagon for sale at some dealership in Cola. I saw it in Auto Magazine. They only want $995. Let me know if you want more info.

I had an 89 Honda Accord with 289,000 miles on the original engine! It ran great, until fifth gear went out... that was reaaaaallly annoying. So I sold it. FOR $900!!! I couldn't believe the girl wanted to pay that much knowing everything that was wrong with it.

Says above he already bought something. But as a side note. Some Stealerships will try to ream the crap out of you even on a cheap beater.

Back when I was commuting to Greenwood I kept looking into cheap beaters. Found a 95 civic for $995 @ a dealership in Atl on autotrader. Took off of work the next moring and went down there. (I called the evening b/f and they said it ran great, just had a littl body damage and cosmetic stuff.) Well I get down there the radiator is spewing and idol is sparatic. I then decide to go ahead with it and go to sit down in the stealership. They start writing #'s down and they tried to tack on a $500 fee! After going back and forth I walked, wasted 1/2 a day of vacation and learned to stay far far away from dealerships for any car purchase. New or used.

OK rant over, have a great day :)
