I have an FJ60 and im lookig for a place to stow a shotgun locked in a rack. (CA gun laws are terrible...) does anyone have experience with installing electronic shotgun racks? I was also wondering if there is room under the back bench seats to keep one when the seats are folded down. Anyone know? My other option is right inbetween the passenger and drivers seats like police racks or mounted above the rear wheelwells.

Can't help on locating the locking rack, but I have seen some cool mounting locations though.

On the back seat, I don't see enough room to mount and be able to fold the seat down to lay flat. At least in my 60, I need to move everything out from under my seat to fold it down and not damage the fabric.

I did see a picture, i think here on Mud, of someone who made the rear seat into a gun storage area. The rear panel opened and the springs were modified to make room?

Another thing I saw was a gub rack mounted to the ceiling with the gubs running front the back. Similar to a interior fishing pole mounts.

I'm confused what you mean by seat's folded down? Do you mean when the rear seats are configured such that passengers can sit on them? Or do you mean when the seat bottom is rotated forward and the seat back is down flush with the floor.

In the "sitting" configuration, there is space under the seat bottom. I can fit my hi-lift jack under there. I'm not sure that a gun in a lock box would fit, but then that would depend on the box.

Looking for a solution myself. These trucks don't seem terribly secure and I am going to have to leave my shotgun in the wagon in an urban area after I go hunting...

I'm curious, I keep my 12 ga. in a neoprene 6 can beer can sock. Works great and no one looks twice at it, just the pistol grip sticks out. With a trigger lock it's hard to tell it's there.

"Nothin' to see here, officer, just shootin' back some tall boys..."

Australian can size or Gringo ?

Im in CA i have to have it in a locked container or locking gun rack essentially all the time. I think i can fit the rack while the rear seats are folded down and not able to be sat on, in a gun rack. Just wondering if anyone knew

Probly a trigger lock then put her in one of the zippered soft cases under your back seat (with seat in such a fasion that only midgets or small children could sleep in the back) should be a tight enough fit in there not to rattle or move around. Or don't get pulled over, I've found that to be the best way to deal with our special CA laws.

Move to a less liberal state...oops, did I say that out loud...my bad:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Here in Arkansas we don't have much use for racks, as the passenger is usually hanging out the window holding your shotgun ;)

Trigger lock doesnt matter for anything in CA. I HATE THIS HIPPY NANNY STATE!!!!!!!!!!

This is all moot anyway - it's Kalifornia. Soon we won't be able to own guns.

Go to a gun store, they can advise you, as well as sell you the rack. Get one like the police have and put your shotgun between the front seats.

In this state we can wear guns...no permit.
