Tightening every screw possible is already in the works. Anything special you guys do to keep things like door and tailgate panels rattling when the bass is cranked up?

I sprayed Second Skin Spectrum on the inside (side you don't see) of the door, tailgate, and rear quarter panels. Made them much heavier and stiffer, and reduced rattling.

Are you allowed to play loud music with lots of bass in Utah?

The majority of the things I do, I do because I'm not allowed :grinpimp:

Actually I prefer it quiet(er) most of the time, though I like to have the high-volume conditions nice and perfect when I want/need them.

Oh and I got my 4-channel amp all setup running my sub and the front door speakers. Sounds like a freaking dream.

You were worried about having enough subwoofer to keep up with the fronts, and now you are worried about rattles...... Must be working ok.

These things are pretty solid. I don't have many rattles at all with mine. Maybe a bit of second skin damplifier or similar product on the rear quarters and inside the tailgate. Shouldn't need much.

Yeah, it's definitely working ok. All the neighbors have commented :D

I like Ebag's suggestion for spray-on stuff. I've got some foam somewhere that would work nicely.

Did I mention I got the whole setup for $257??

Good deal. Did it come with an additional wife, too? :p What speakers are you using in the doors? Do you have all speakers hooked up, or just the doors? The spectrum in nice stuff. The adhesive tiles are much faster and easier though. Spectrum is real nice if you're doing the whole interior.

I think the stock radio is too loud.

Ha! Hahaha.

I've got some aftermarket speakers in the doors (not sure what brand they are, but they sound ok) and I think I might get the 160w Pioneer set at Walmart ($40) and replace them. I think one of them might be blown.

As of right now, only the doors have speakers (and only the rear doors are still powered by the head unit. The fronts are on the amp). I pulled the dash tweeters and cargo speakers. I'll probably leave the dash tweeter mounts open for a CB radio setup or something.

Sounds like you're doing things right. A halfway decent amp, door speakers, and sub should give very good results. Are you hearing a lot of rattles?

As far as I can tell the rattles are just the door and tailgate panels, maybe some stuff in the center console. Nothing big, the spray foam should take care of it.

Butyl rope (found at autoglass shops) works wonders for that too. Plus, it has tons of other handy uses too.

I just did a major stereo overhaul and used Dynomat on the rear 3/4's of the truck. I covered everything from the floor, to the wheel wells, quarters, etc. Although it was expensive, it is worth every penny. The ride is MUCH quieter, there are NO rattles, and the music is much more clear.

PS - I have a single JL10W6 that can hit pretty hard, and NOTHING rattles. However, I am getting too old, so I keep the bass to a comfortable level...don't like to attract that kind of attention.

I moved the sub so it fires straight into the tailgate, and now I don't notice the rattles as much, strangely enough. The sub also seems louder now, probably because it gets the body of the car involved?

It is louder now. I think they call it corner loading. Part of room or enclosed space acoustics.
