I went on an "internet journey" / down a rabbit hole today at work:

ATX TW Hill Country & BBQ Run - Google My Maps

James River Road Mason, Texas Afternoon Back-Country Adventure

I had seen those routes before. One of things that led me to map mine was that so many of those routes used to be gravel, but much has been paved. That BBQ Run one has some roads mapped west of where we were and I want to go explore them to make sure they are still gravel. Google Earth spying indicates they are, but the imagery is about 3 years old. I'll probably head out there in a 2 weeks to explore.
