Does someone know what servicing the solid front axles require beyond the diff oil change on these LJ78's? Do the outer ends need grease? I see plugs out there but no nipples.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

On my own Prado I have drilled and tapped, then fitted grease nipples to these plugs, pump approx 3/4 of a grease cartridge into the houseings.
Don't over presserise them if you have electric hubs. as the grease will work it's way out the stub axe and into the electric hub slip ring space.
"The carbon brush's must remain free of any grease"

WARNING:

pumping (too much) grease into the knuckle will force grease into the differential housing and push it out past the felt seals... makes a HUGE mess.

If you're going to do this, the greases must be compatible and you must use a Moly-fortified grease.

If your knuckles have been properly take care of - during a rebuild - there be little need to add grease to the knuckle housing between rebuilds.

In New Zealand , our 4WDing has a lot of water work [ rivers ] and by filling up the houseings with grease , helps to keep the top kingpin bearing lubed.
The upper bearing is the one that fails first, due to no grease remaining on it.
Where there's grease , there's no water.
