Hello Cruiserheads,
I've been offered a "deal" on 4 OME coil springs and shocks. Quote is $875 plus tax and shipping.

I'm sure it will solve most of the problems with hard ride and make the ol' LJ78 more civilized.

However, is this a deal?

$120 per OME shocks
$98 per OME coil springs

I'm thinking of going for it if I can ever find $1,000 to spend on the cruiser. Then I have to put a steering kit on it and think of a pyrometer, a boost limiter, and a stainless steel exhaust to keep engine temps down.

What do you folks think?

I put a 4.5" Zeal/Prostaff lift kit on my 92 LJ78. The ride was much better. Better flex, better height, bigger tires.

I honestly don't know about the OME lifts but I don't see where you can wrong adding more coil spring to the Prados.

I would go for it, IMO. Sounds reasonable. Check the shipping as that might be a deal breaker in this case. That price quote is way cheaper than a JDM kit for sure.

prado coil lift

The dobinson suspension is not bad. I orderd 4 inch lift coils and it came to $635.00 with taxes and shiping to my door step. They also sell shocks to fit the 2-4 inch lifts. I would assume for around $1000.00 you could get a 2-3 inch lift complete . Call and confirm. They are nice people to deal with and their suspension is soft and cosy ride. If you are intrested in a 4inch lift they do not sell all the extras it will take to lift your Prado You will have to fab the parts yourself. $875.00 seems to be a good deal but you must consider shipping costs and gst and pst . I assume it will cost well over the 1000.00 price tag.

good luck.

Thanks to you all for your comments, I sorta thought it was a decent price for the coils AND shocks and the shipping would be $60 and that and the tax does get you to $1000 as you suspected. Then there is installing them!

So it aint cheap. But I surmise that anyone who has a 1990 Prado has gone this direction or to the Dobsons since gravity has taken its toll on the stock setup.

Maybe I'll get a raise!!
