i have a 2LTE LJ71 automatic transmission. on flat or slight rolling terrain truck moves well. however when im crawling in the mall parking lot, i sometimes will lose all revs. the engine wont rev. the vehicle wont move forward. even if i fully depress the accelerator. no revs... i replaced the TPS, had my EFI 2LTE injection pump serviced and was tested by local denso authorized shop. transmission works well, shifts well when on regular roads. its only on steep inclines that found in malls that i would lose all power moving without the engine stalling. if i put it on N then give it lots of rev it may go up the incline but even if you fully press the accelerator it wont rev.
transmission specialist here says there is nothing wrong with transmission. i had the valve body cleaned, changed all 3 solenoids to new ones (refurbished ones i think but had it checked with ohm meter and it was up to spec) im thinking if the speed sensor or any other sensor may be the culprit. i hope someone here can help me in the right direction.

Might be starving for fuel. When you are on an incline the injection pump has to work harder to pull the fuel up hill.
if you have a clogged fuel filter or leaky fuel lines it is usually most troublesome when climbing an incline.

Have you tried running a diagnostic test?

Have a look here - Toyota 2LTE error codes - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/toyota-2lte-error-codes.201623/

Diagnostic code 9 points to a speed sensor signal.

I would start with the basic diagnostic test. It is quick and easy.

And then:

- Check the fuel tank breather lines. If there is a hiss sound when you open the fuel tank cap, it may be a clogged breather hose.
- Ensure there are no leaks at the injector lines and pump.
- Replace your fuel filter. Unscrew the bottom piece and check for water or particles in the old filter.
- may be a clogged diesel return line. You may need to remove this and check if all the holes are cleared.

The speed sensor is located in the injector pump if I recall correctly.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Will do those stuffs. Btw, the injector pump had been service by Denso and found no fault with it. Will look into the other aforementioned details.

Good day. Updates on mg LJ71 issues. The fuel lines seems fine. My mechanic is saying it's the fault of the transmission speed sensor. I'm attaching a pic sent to me. He says the sensor matching a 2LTE engine is discontinued and only those Ina 1KZTe attached to the auto transmission is available. Thou it is a different one. I only saw one type of transmission speed sensor in looking for one in the internet. This iwhat he said was at fault

Try crossing it to another same year A34x series transmission in another car. They're in tons of Toyotas of that vintage. Maybe you can get one from a wrecker?

Not sure if there is an aftermarket option for this. In these cases, it is best to source from wreckers or Toyota spare shops.

I recently swapped my transfer case, but unfortunately the sensor was missing on the newer one, hence I had to reuse my original one.

They can break easily when the transfer case is removed, hence best to remove the sensor before taking the case off.

Did you do any testing on yours? Not entirely sure what the FSM process is but suspect it would be simple. May be good to test this first while fitted.
