I have 45 munites to locate the engine number stamped on the block of a US 1997 80 series Land Cruiser.

Any help out there?

Thanks

Well I'm probably too late for you, but it's located on a tag rivited to the PS side of the block just below the head up front. Look at your oil fill cap, then move your eyes to the left and down. Where the head meets the block is a tag with the number on it.

Thanks Tom. I found that one but Customs here wants the engine block number. The number on the tag is the VIN. Any ideas? I've tried to explain the VIN to no avail, but a friend told me that there is an engine number. I'm going to try Toyota USA and see if they can get it from the VIN.

Thanks again.

LH side of the engine block, just above the starter. It will be stamped on a machined pad and will start with 1FZ-xxxxxx

Thanks. I'll get to it this weekend. To satisfy the officials I have to make a stencil of it!
