I've seen this happen with a dying alternator or dying battery in other cars. Did you spray your engine compartment too?

May need some time to dry out? Some connections got wet and confused the computer maybe? Hopefully no shorts or anything from the moisture.

Gas gauge is working great though. 80's are usually on about empty. ; )

Good luck and let us know.

+2 check alternator output. If possible I would run it till hot and see if it dries out the moisture on its own.

alternator

but it fires up like a beast, no issues ever, no the engine was ice cold from the spot i put it 2 days before i washed it

man im getting pissed with these damn trucks, alternator plus EGR baby momma drama?? cmon wtffffaaacccckkkkkkk

so you hosed the engine bay of an 18 year old truck down, and are pissed that the alt is now upset? sure ok. the plugs and wiring connectors do tend to loose their edge with age.

Xwhatever-alternator

i just washed the engine on mine, washed all the crap out, i had a misfire after i started it, removed the dizzy cap and cleaned the water and its good as new. hopefully you have a simple problem like water on the alternator plug.

I am going to try and spray some wd40 see what happens, at this point, you cannot imagine my frustation.

u got water in the distributor or you r alternater is dying, either way dont wash your engine unless you cvr up certain parts no need to high pressure wash your engine its doesnt care if its a little dirty use a rag

What all the other guys have said, plus it always helps reliability if you spend some time going connector to connector & making sure you don't have corrosion, then smear a little white lithium grease in each terminal, and if you haven't greased the battery terminals, then get them clean & grease them too.

Up here in WA, it's wet more than dry so the little grease trick keeps all the connectors reliable.

Also, since it'll be your 1st time going through & doing this, do 1 socket at a time & trial start the motor - so you haven't done 15 sockets & then you get the "Christmas tree" or a no-start situation.

Let's see alternator is $200 and about 2 hour labor job, I got EGR problems, about $150 and I need a hitch $200 and the tint to be redone at $249

And then on to paint and body ....
