I'm tearing things down for a head gasket replacement (130K miles) and when I pulled off the throttle body, I found liquid in the plenum; it's fairly oily/dirty as well.

My only two thoughts are:

1. This is normal condensation from winter driving. I had the throttle body off back in August for a valve gasket replacement and didn't notice any liquid, but that was in the summer time.
2. With the failed head gasket, the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) brought some of the heated coolant/water back into the intake. I know nothing about the EGR system and this is a pure guess.

Anyone care to weigh-in?
