1978 FJ40, how do I get the lighter out? (not the actual lighter, the body of it)

from the backside, I recall a ring that unscrews. Remove the ashtray might make it easier to get your hand in there.

There is a small nut on the stud that the power lead plugs into that has to come off IIRC, and then that cover peice will thread off...

At least I think that is how mine came apart this past summer when I had the red truck gutted...

Ok, the body sort of threaded off. And that power lead seems to have melted off, guess that explains why it wasn't working.
