License plate light connection?

I still need to wire in the license plate light for my Slee rear bumper. Has anyone got pics of a good place to land the wires?

Excellent question, I’ll lurk, since mine has been left undone for 3 months.

However I do have a clean overall photo to show. Imagine your laying down under the rig, feet down past the axle. Look up and imagine the spare and all it’s mounting mess is gone. Then you will see this wiring bundle left sharp in the photo. Note that my 99 has rear air and might have some wiring for that.

What wire is the tailgate license light wire? Hmmmm?

Whatever you do, don't cut the blue wire...

You can pull the tail light/running light lead from the trailer harness, typically it's a brown wire.

Any I took a tail light wire on my 80 for convenience. Just don't use a brake light wire.

That's what I used (brown wire is +). There are a pair of white wires coming out of my trailer harness. The white wires are ground (that's just wrong...). So when you hook your LED light up, don't assume what is + or -. The LED has a white and a black wire and I can't remember which ended up being right. I think black is + and white is - on the LED harness. It's easy enough to test with a 9V battery...

I was trying to solder three wires together and come up with new expletives in that environment

My trailer light harness come in from the drivers side. I just tapped into that.

Thought about this when installing the bumper. Decided not to use the light at all.
All my cars don't have front plates either, never been an issue for 15+ years.
