Only 3 choices? What about those who do not conform to a standard and prefer to be referred as independents?

There is no such thing as an independent. It is just a cop out answer.

Then I would have to define myself as an opportunist.

Who will not take money from my paycheck?
Who will defend my country effectively?
Who will keep the economy in good heatlh? Or take it back to good health.
Who will take care of those who cannot do it by themselves or with help of their families?
Who will advocate for the end of racial and gender quotas?

I disagree. I think most Americans don't belong to one party or the other. I sure as heck do not belong to either. I have probably voted for as many Dems as I have Reps over the years.

But the question isnt who you vote for, its what are your political beliefs. Thats why I answered the way I did.

    Should be a poll....

Problem is, the majority of Americans usually differ from the party line on a few issues.

I am more conservative tha liberal, but don't necessarily agree with the party that calls themselves conservative, and the things they do. They really aren't true to that definition in the literal sense, but avoid hard issues just to keep some peace (or to get re-elected).

I am all about personal responsibility. I don't think the government owes me a damn thing. I think too many people make bad choices, and expect the government to bail them out. I think too many people are lazy, stupid, or both.

I am tired of having so much of my hard earned pay taken from me without any real representation, and redistributed to those who won't get out of bed each morning like I do. Not that there aren't some people that need help, but it is not the government's place to take care of them.

I don't think the Constitution guarentees a safety net for those that won't make sacrifices or work hard, or had something happen to them.

I hate the fact I'm paying and have been paying into a SS system that the government raids at will for other projects, and when I die, none of my retirement money will be left to my heirs as part of my legacy.

More rants possible, but that is my opinion.

So in your mind this is how the definition of ideologies should look?

Conservative - ban abortion, keep guns
Liberace - Kill babies, take guns

I would probably say I am libertarian, however I vote republican.

I don't think there are many people in the national population who agree with one party on everysingle issue, however I lean towards the right on most issues.

I have no problem admitting that I am a liberal. The democrats are way too conservative for my taste, in fact. I see little difference between the two parties, both simply cater to big money, both are highly corrupt, that's all. Currently the republicans have a complete and utter moron as a president installed, but times will change.
I have lots of republican friends, however, they don't consider this administration as republican, but as war mongering neocons.
I also have a number of democrat friends, and they are frustrated with the obvious, that the current democrats have very little to offer.
As long as the american public is paralyzed with fear, any administration will be able to stuff their shyte down our throats.
