Favorite engine sources? If any?

When I did my engine, I also did starter, radiator, rear main seal,,and belt/tensioner. The valley plate had to be swapped over anyway so it took care of that and I elected not to mess with the cam towers. Should have done the alternator too since it went after another 2 years and is a bugger to do.

If the alternator bearings are in good shape (which is usually the case for us) you can change just the brushes and get a lot more life out of the original unit for a fraction of the cost of a full replacement.

Unless you've been beating the crap out of it pulling big amps at low RPMs, which could stress the diodes..

Yes I think so. I have messages in to a couple of vendors. I need to review the tape….

Yes copart is on my list

The budget seems to be 11 to 14 grand and includes some additional items like new "post-2018" radiator, water pump, alternator?, starter?, etc.

Then the discussion moves sideways to "would you refresh your beloved 200 series with a 30k to 80k miles engine for 15 grand?".
"Well, not if it was running fine."
"Ok. What if it was found on road dead?" I think that's a possible acronym.... ;)

nope. in that case, i am selling my ugly 08, and buying a 16+ sex machine.

Yeah, but your '08 is in its prime. My '14 is an invalid.....

Soon the fog will settle on this and the decision will be clear.

Just needs a bit of marinating.....

Any one have info on these folks?:
They sound knowledgeable and conscientious over the phone......

Putting some closure on this:
5.7 Tundra engine swapped in. All oil leaks fixed. Tundra engine does not have low oil sensor that the LC engine has/had. Not a problem.
Approx 600 miles on the replacement engine now. All is good so far.......

3,500 miles on it now. Better than my original expectations...
