hi guys ..............i have a question regarding rebuilt head on 2L-TE engine.... I had my head done about 5000 kl ago or about 4 or 5 months ago .It seems like i have oil leaks all over the place.

I was wondering if the head bolts need to be retorqued after so many kl. If so, could anyone tell me the torque specs and the sequence or am i just out of luck and have a leaky rig.

thanks.

it shouldn't need retorquing at all...
when you say oil leaks all over, can you describe or post pics of the problem areas?

hi wayne thanks for asking for pics im still trying to figure out how to make my pics smaller so that i can download them .

The place that did the install is in edmonton and i am in moose jaw ..........just thought i would ask some one here .....sorry for taking up space but i just figured some one could answer the question for me because i know a lot of people here have had 2l te heads replace....it allso 9.14 pm here so a phone call at this time would be pointless but thanks for the advice. ps i thought this was a place to get help with problems .

leaking from under the head would not be a good thing, but that would really surprise me if that was the case and you weren't also having problems with coolant in your oil, etc.

It's sometimes hard to tell where the oil is coming from. Maybe you're getting blow-by and it's leaking out from the valve cover. Could also be a cracked hose or loose clamp on the cross-over pipe. Are you finding a pool of oil under the truck, or does the engine just have oil covering it in spots?

Like Wayne said, more info would be helpful.

Hey don't get me wrong. You can still ask here and explain what is wrong.

I didn't mean my post to be negative, so if it sounded that way it wasn't meant to be. But I would ask them about it. Regardless of where you are now and where they are.

To make your pictures smaller they need to be resized to I think 80 kbs or smaller.
I use a freeware program that was recommended here called Irfanview. Works really good.
Check the help section on how to post pics. It gets a few threads a month asking that question.

thanks guys............there seems to be small pools or oil were the head meets the block much oil covering the underside ,funny lots on the one side of the oil pan but none on the other. That would be the side with the oil filter....filter has lots of oil on it but it dose feel tight.....there is a small not puddle but quarter sized spot on the ground in the morning .nice little drip. Would it be a good idea to spray the engin at a shop with a pressure washer and start from scratch?....

I will try again later with the pics im sure i should be able to figure that out hahaha.

brownbear i am sorry i did take what you said as offencive . My bad sorry. and thanks for the pic suggestions.

Also check the oil pan bolts for torque. Or just make sure they are snug. But not too tight.

I would clean it all really good with a degreaser. Then drive a little and look. Keep looking till you see the origin.

If you notice my first post I edit'd it for more clarity :)

have you had the oil changed recently?
if so was the old gasket removed? in not then you have 2 gaskets in there and could leak or if the new gasket got pinched then it will leak or if the wrong filter was used it might leak...
just guessing here...

on the oil filter side of the engine, you might also want to look for a leak in the oil feed line to the turbo. Also check for leaks around the oil pump, which is the belt-driven assembly right in front of the oil filter.

just incase your interestead ..here is an update . i as of yet have not got my golw plugs and oil filter. But i did buy a couple batteries for what seemed like a thousand bucks ( just kidding but more than one for sure ). The ride starts, seems to take a little longer to crank over but then again the temp is about- 28 (-10ish) degrees cel since i got it . I am still expecting the patrs and will most likly put the glow plugs any way because they are most likly hurting any way . but i will check the old ones for sure. gives me a chance to learn. thanks guys i would not attempt with out your info .looks quite easy after reading and looking thanks..psps got the crappy tire expensive battery and it cranks that ride like the glow plugs are out.

I would say one last question but that would be a lie. would it be a bad thing for my ride to be pluged in all night i have an inline rad heater i forget what its called right now but it is on the main rad hose and gets very worm. i have left it pluged in all night and all day at work and was just wondering if there was any problems in hoses melting, fires starting or any thing silly like that .

-28 feel free to leave it plugged in all night.

even in that cold I would not get too worried about a small oil leak. Wait till it warms up. Sometime extreme cold can show more oil leaks but once it warms up they go away.

In that temp unless you have a good garage I would not even bother trying to clean it. Better to keep it dry.

I did that ONCE! What a friggin' mess. I had probably 2 litres of oil puke out on my garage floor. And I was so neat and clean prior to that.

i am planning on chainging oil as soon as i get my filter(s) from 4 wheel. I am at 5500kl since last change . It was changed when the head was done.

At this point im gald it is starting good and running good , the oil pressure looks fine and level is good. so i will waite for filter then change oil and clean every thing up and see if i can find the culprit. i really hope its not the head gasket.

You can't buy filters for those engines at NAPA or Toyota? Would it not be the same as a 2L-t? I will have to look in my EPC

the 2LTE shares the same oil filter as the HDT,1HZ,1PZ *****-30002

cheers

thanks guys i had no idea and just figured i would save the hassel of getting the wrong filter by going to dan and that would insure that i got the one that i need .
