it appears to be quite wet on the top of my injection pump no steady flow just allways wet and not getting the fuel millage I once had, the motor in question is a 2L-TE 1991 , Denso pump.

I tightened up the four hex keys on the top of the pump in a weak attempt at stopping it.

Anyone have any solutions or past experiences, odometer reads 85,000 kms, so I wouldn't expect this type of problem, the wife has been using it for two short trips a day, and the problem started allmost immediately after. I know short trips aren't exactly a diesels friend or any motor for that matter.

Help :frown:

On many pumps I have seen O-ring failure due to our low sulfur fuels on many jdm seals.

Some can be changed out on the engine others cannot and taking the pump on the 2lt is no small job.

thanks for the reply, there seems to be decent room to get at the pump, should I be worried about messing up the timing or any other concerns with the gasket or seal changes

If you remove the pump you WILL mess up the timing. Personally, I'd have a diesel shop take care of it (and I do almost everything on my truck).

Download the manuals and have a look at the exploded diagrams of the fuel pump.
I think your talking about the governor cover but Im not sure of the consequences of removing it.

A diesel shop would want to run a full gasket and seal kit through it before they would guarantee it;)

well I ran her all week and not easy on her either, turned her off one night and now she won't start.

She was a little low on fuel, so I filled her up and bled the injectors, she was stumble starting before the bleed and now she won't catch at all.

I've never bled a diesel before but there wasn't a whole lot of fuel coming out, only one injector gave it a good shot of fuel, the rest just wet around the tube and that was all

Don't really know what I should do now, want to try and stay away from a mechanic if I can.

checked the fuses under the dash and there all good is there any other fuses or relays for this truck, checked under the hood couldnèt see anything, just in the front left fender, no labels and not sure what exactly they are. Also what is the power outlet for under the hood by the air filter can

the plug by your air intake is likely for a block heater or water line heater. Follow it to see where it goes and you should have the answer.

Is it not firing at all?

How are you going about bleeding the lines all the way to the injectors? The last time I had air in the lines on my rotary pump 3B I was able to work it out by pumping the primer pump on the filter while the engine was stumbling. Cracking the fittings at the injector while it is cranking or running might do it as well just dont loosen too much. If you cant get it to run you may be able to get it going well enough by taking out the glow plugs and cranking it over.

You should make sure that there are no leaks in the system that are letting air in - especially if you changed the filter recently.

I have no experience with the TE pump. Mine only has one wire that controls the fuel cut and it ties into the "engine" fuse.

I'm craking the lines at the injectors, and not noticing too much fuel, I'm going to try it again and see what happens hopefully my starter can handle the abuse,

the odometer reads 90,000 kms and I've had since 56,000kms, the really shouldn't be happening, and I really need to get it going so that I can get back to work which is 400kms away

k I cracked the filter and it was half full, filled it up and tried no luck, filled the lines up to the filter and after the filter, pump seems to draw a small amount of fuel from the lines and at the injector it only trickles, one seems to have more pressure than the others

so I'm going out there to try the filter gig again,

anyone have any suggestions or past experiences to pass on

well persistence prevails, she started but the leak on the top of the pump is real bad, she'll make it home but it will be a costly fuel bill.

Anyone know where I can get a seal kit for the denso pump 2LT-E style 1991, or a new pump
