Might as well reserve a spot, as mentioned by someone else already just call and leave a message and they will call you back to get you set up. Also, I can confirm they have a very generous three-day prior cancelation policy so no risk if plans change.
Yeah I'll go ahead and do that, thanks!

I have been looking for tent sites on Recreation.gov in the area and it appears most of the camp sites are not released yet for end of July or are "first come first serve" and can't be reserved. Will sites open up for for reservations later as we get closer to the event dates or is this just the way these campsites are in the area?

the 6 month rolling window is pretty common

2 years ago I don't recall them largely being FCFS. It may be due to covid - either from too many people cancelling last year and/or from too limited availability from camp hosts to manage reservations.

6 Month rolling reservation window.

Confirmed reservation at 4J with RV site 5R. Had fun last year at LCDC and also met nice people during the event. Hoping to get in at registration. Big Thanks to the Organizers.

Planning on coming but not sure if the whole family is coming or if I'm solo. Waiting on call back from 4J but have made a reservation at the KOA just in case. There seem to be better camp sites than KOA but it is still too early to reserve or they say its all FCFS. I don't really want to deal with FCFS.

I have stayed at the Ouray KOA several times. I really like it, we have stayed in tents and in the cabins. It is quiet, they have a little store on site. The owners are nice and run a good operation. I highly recommend it.

Camp sites at Amphitheater Campground just opened up at 10 EST for our dates.

Just scored one.

I made a reservation at Ridgway state park. I'm in the upper loop, spot 260HA. Does anyone have any local knowledge about the place? All of the creekside spots were taken.

Ive stayed there multiple times. Upper loop is where its at and where we have stayed every time we have been. If you need anything specific, just ask.

Edit: You're staying at the northern campground. We always stay in the southern one. The south one has the swim beach and lake access. I have never stayed in the northern one. I just reserved 113HA just in case I can't get one tomorrow morning at Amphitheater.

I 100% intend to return to the Switzerland of America with the wife and pup. Right now it's looking doubtful due to professional obligations but I'm hoping those cancel!

Booked site 24 at amphitheater. It’s one of only 6 sites which technically fit my 25’ trailer, and having been there before realistically it’s one of only 2 or 3...

This is my first pick location. I'm going to try and hit up one of the FCFS spots, but man, this place looks busy this time of year.
