Since Poser posted up his skidplate design many moons ago, and gave permission to copy it, I have been working on how to apply it to a later model FJ40 with the transmission support. It turns out it is much simpler and requires less material than early FJ40's.
I had the tube bent by Lejuene Performance (famous for their sprint car frames and racing chassis). It was around $100 for the tube and labor to bend it. I still have to drill the holes in the frame for the side bolts and paint it, of course.
Here are some pics.

Looks Really Good!

I'm gonna have to custom build something like that for mine. Nobody makes one for a 40 with a Rock Box and an Atlas. I got two prices, one was $850 and the other was $775. The prices were from two different shops. OUCH!

Those are both pretty fair...

If they are going to fabricate you something worth a s***, they will have eight to ten hours in it....at least.

I see nothing wrong with your design. If I can build a swing away tire carrier, I'm sure i can tackle this.

Are the plans posted on MUD somewhere?

Thanks Poser... It's good to have guys like you around who fabricate some cool sHiite and post it for others to follow and don't play the "I've got a secret" game.
I can scan some of my drawings and post them up... It wasn't too difficult. The hardest part was explaining to the shop how I wanted the tube bent. To make it easier on them, I fit the angle iron to the frame, bolted it up, then tacked a cross piece to hold them at that configuration, then brought it with me to the shop so they had a template to match the lengths and bends to.
The other fun part was cutting the mitres to the angle iron on round tube...
I built mine to fit an H41/42 and Orion case that I'll put in in April/May. Apparently the Orion is a bit larger (hangs lower) than the stock case... I'm not sure if the Orion hangs any lower than the split case though.
Anyway, I'll get my measurements and edit my drawins, scan them and post 'em up.
thanks for the ups.
Cheers-

Thanks... I'd love to have the large image files if you don't mind.
