I have a 5/79 Fj40. I replaced mine with a Magnaflow cat, same length, with the triangular flanges and a tube for the temp sensor. I don’t know what, if any difference but they also offer one for California emission requirements. I think I paid like 225.00

Did you buy your cat from a LC shop or just an ordinary muffler shop?

I looked it up at magnaflow.com and came up with #23894 for 266.00 and apparently they’ll give you 75.00 for your old one.
RockAuto sells one as well. I bought one for a 79 it has worked well. $160 or $170 I think.

@ToyotaMatt I really appreciate the offer. At this point I think if I can't find a factory Toyota cat I'm going to run without one, I'm not in an emissions area so I'll be okay. More than anything I just want a Toyota cat for the cool factor of keeping my truck all original.
