I'm contemplating what I want to do for batteries in my new to me '16. I have all of the parts that I recently removed from my '13 prior to sale that I could put in.

I've seen a couple of builds where people have rerouted the factory wiring to use a larger battery on the passenger side, and use the smaller battery on the drivers side for auxiliary loads.

If I do this, I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

If you've done this, could you share what parts you used, info and pictures?

I think you are talking about a battery swap where the aux tray is used for the starting battery and the main battery tray is upgraded to a group 31 and used as the auxiliary battery? If so I have done this and can share pictures...

Yes, you are absolutely correct. That would be awesome. Thank you!

A number of people have done this. I would like to, but haven’t. Would much rather use my huge 31 for constant accessory use... Might eventually do the terminal swap.

That didn't take too long. Congrats on the newer 200

this is the Slee secondary battery tray acting as the main starting battery. BCDC is charging the Aux group 31 in the primary location.

the post that connects the stock battery to the 2ga wire that goes to the other side is a blue sea power post plus 3/8" X 7/8". I got mine on Amazon for $10ish

If you have any other questions let me know.

Thank you very much!

That makes perfect sense to me.

The power post is something like the model 2003 (model varies depending on post size):PowerPost - 3/8"-16 Stud - Blue Sea Systems

One quick question: what is the blue sea power post mounted on? Did you make a bracket that attaches to the Slee tray ?
Im not sure the exact model number but here is a picture of the one I got. The power post is just kind of hanging in mid air, I’m not in love with the solution and may move to a barrel crimp or build a mount out of hdpe plastic. Finding a mounting solution is on the list of things to do.

Thanks.

With what you shared, it should be pretty straightforward. Thank you.

I had a bad experience once with a positive cable becoming an impromptu welder, so I think I would need to figure out a way to mount it securely. Should be easy enough to do.

This was one of our first mods as well. Our system is "probably" a little overengineered, but the mounting aspects are all pretty much the same principal. I did ours before there were any commercially available battery trays or DC-DC charger mounts, so luckily you'll have it a lot easier
