Just a clarification:
The TIE ROD connects the two front wheels together when you steer.

The DRAG LINK connects the Steering arm on the steering box to the RF knuckle (of LHD units) to initiate steering.

It is the TIE ROD that you are actually referring to.

Doh. You are right sir.

Third picture.
Relay Rod = Drag Link

Tie Rod is Tie Rod and is actually REARWARD of the center of the axle, so it is BEHIND the axle under the truck.

(GM, Ford, and Dodge, install the tie rod in FRONT of the axle)

thanks man.
so the drag/link relay rod connects to “pittman arms” in front and what do the pittman arms connect to please? and what does the drag link/relay rod do again?
also, what rubs on the tie rod and what are you supposed to grind off if it does?

thanks man.

I really think you need to take your truck to a mechanic to do work on it.

There is one pitman arm. It lives on the bottom of the steering box attached to the sector shaft. That is what rotates when you turn the steering wheel.
From the pitman arm, the relay rod crosses in front of the front axle housing and attaches to the front arm of the right steering knuckle.
The tie rod "ties" the 2 steering knuckles together and attaches to the rear arm of both steering knuckles and is in the rear of the front axle housing and goes above the front control arms.

Let's leave the grinder in the shop for now.

I would also suggest spending some quality time looking at these parts on your truck as opposed to reading shop manuals. It will be painfully obvious how this all works.
