Greetings Texas CruiserHeads,

I am launching on a roadtrip to New Mexico from Jackson, Mississippi in a few days and on my way out would like to visit an expert Landcruiser mechanic to have some issues looked at that I am unable to solve on my own. Jackson doesn't have a mechanic willing to work on cruisers. I figure there might be more options in a bigger city. I drive an 1982 FJ60 with original 2f, desmogged with headers. I would appreciate any suggestions.

thanks,

Barry

It's running too warm. I have replaced water pump, thermostat, fan clutch and radiator. I'm beginning to suspect a head issue--possibly a burnt valve. Oil looks clean, don't think its the head gasket. Looking for someone with some diagnostic skills/equipment.

Barry go see Butch, he's 2 hours north of Dallas but it's worth the knowledge!

He's screen name is Texican

That could be your problem. Water circulates too fast to cool properly without one. I'd suggest an OEM thermostat, properly installed with gasket top and bottom.

Mike the do-rite man definitely knows his stuff...but heads up.
Don't be in a hurry, dont expect it back when he says, expect some excuses along the way....but from what I have seen, it will be right when you get it and his pricing is fair.
I prefer Butch, I'll take straight, honest talk instead of excuses. Besides, it sure is a pretty country around Bonham. Just my .02
