How can I make sure the engine of my BJ40 is the original one and matches the frame

You cant, there's no documentation tying the chassis to a specific engine. The only thing you can confirm is that the correct model of engine is installed.

Some landcruisers have plates with a 6 digit number after the engine type, but Im not sure if it ties in with the engine number and I haven't seen it on a diesel. Anyone know?
