Land Cruiser 100 Driver's Door Latch, Check and Handle Remove and Replacement (1 Viewer)

Reason: A very sloppy outer door handle. Also the door check made some noise

FIRST disconnect the battery ground wire

Disconnect the power window switch assembly (1st pic: gently lift form the front and push the metal pin/retainer and life the assembly Disconnect wires

Open the bolt cover and remove bolt (2 pic)

Remove the bezel (pic-3) Use a pick to lift the ring on the bezel off the black mounting tab

Remove the twitter cover (Pic-4): Pull straight out

Remove the two bolts hidden behind the two plastic grommets towards the front of the door Pic -5 (pic shows just the bolts: grommets are already removed)

Remove four bolts at the bottom of the door card (Pic-1)

Not Pictured: There are two plastic tabs towards the rear or the door card and one in the front: Press the center of the plastic tab and pull the entire tab out

Remove the door card: Hint - first Lift the door card near the twitter
Disconnect the door curtasy lamp wire plug

Carefully remove the plastic dust shield (just the rear 1/3 is sufficient)

Dislodge the tab and use a plastic screwdriver to pull the push road from door handle (Pic-2): Hint - Open the access/service hole to pass the screwdriver

Remove all three 10 mm bolts (NO need to disconnect the wire plug from the key barrel) (Pictures 3, 4 and 5)

Remove the door handle from the door

Now you can remove the lock pushrod from the tab attached to the key barrel (Yellow tab in 1st pic): Clear pictures are posted in the next post(4): pictures 3 and 4)

Remove 3 torex bolts (pic-2)

Remove 10 mm bolt (pic-3) : Highlighted

Remove two cables at the inner door handle (Pic-4)

Remove two tabs holding the latching mechnism to door frame (Pic-5) (Use a pic to open'flex the 3 tabs and then press the center tab)

Slide off the metal bracket holding the glass window molding (10 mm bolt removed in pic-3 in post-3 above)

Remove the latching mechanism

INstall is reverse

Now to door CHECK
Remove speaker

Remove 10 mm bolt and two 10 mm nuts (Pic-1)

Remove as shown (Pic-2)

3rd picture shows the yellow tab holding the lock pushrod that can be removed easily once the puter door handle is off

The Driver's door also received OEM hinges

The door closes like a brand new door! The outer door handle is very solid !!
