Hi!

My radiator fan coupling is broken. I want to replace it, but Electronic Parts Catalog show me two kinds of couplings for my car: GREEN painted and DARK BLUE painted!

What is the difference? I know, the difference is in temperature of coupling blocking. But what the temperature is for each? There is nothing about this in official repair manual :(

Help me!

Thnx!

Looks like it depends on production date of your truck.

Check the label on the driver's side door jamb.

Looks like one is for LHD and the other is for RHD. Then there are 2 options based on production date as hankinid pointed out. So for example my '99 I would have a LHD part for the 199907-200001 date range.

The Toyota parts catalog I use doesn't even recognize the number for the "green" one in the post above. It does however know the number for the blue one listed.

Oh, and most everyone calls that a "fan clutch" around the boards.

Both original fan clutches on my trucks are blue and that is the color of the replacement listed. So I'm going with.........blue !

TLC 100 is different a little for different markets. For US and Japan there is no "green" variant of clutch/coupling. It's fo Europe, South America, Asia, etc.

So what's the underlying difference? A 2UZ is a 2UZ, right? Is it something internal to the operating temp of the fluid clutch?

Local Lexus dealer has no listing for green model. Mine was replaced due to a bit of slop when I buttoned up the cam belt change 50K or so. It's blue. Lexus as well as Toyota dealers here had same pn.

Operation temperature of a clutch can be different

Try entering your VIN into the catalog?

yes, it shows two clutches for one VIN

Lexus USA have two variants of clutch for LX470:
1) 16210-50050 aka 16210-50051 DARK BLUE
2) 16210-50100 aka 16210-50101 aka 16210-50102 it's not colored and only for VVT-i 2UZ engine since 2005.05

US Toyota and Lexus dealers dont have a green painted clutch as an option.
