All of these gear boxes are at the point where they all need to be rebuilt. IMO, the 105 upgrade should be par for the course each and every time. Don’t do it any other way.
You read correct, just maybe not the whole thread. My take away is if you're rebuilding it anyway might as well upgrade it. Toyota has made the upgrade standard on any new 80 series boxes they sell. 🤷‍♂️

I stay out of general tech, because it gives me flash backs to PBB days where unless you were running 1-tons and making 700hp you had no reason to take your truck off-road.

I understand your reasoning, and if I was putting the 80 box in either my 40 or 45 I'd for sure do the upgrade, but 99% of this 55's future will be running from house to clinic (3 mile drive). Only way that shaft is breaking is if we get t-boned in the hospital parking lot. Or if it does break AAA is on-call 24/7. ;)

Brutal afternoon removing these 6 rivets. I used every tool I had. This plain sucks but it’s done. Tomorrow we lift. Pallet from @cruiseroutfit was lost in the mail but my buddy Welton chased it down last night. I ran down to Powder Keg and grabbed it.
