;) I didn't get any reaction to my first post:

(I still would welcome a picture of the heater / servo under the dash next to your passenger side)

Question:
Do any of you guys know of any junk yards that have 98+ yr. cruisers?
My internet quest has been a dead end. I need to get my heater fixed...
If it was an 82' tercel, I could go to pick a part! :frown:
Appreciate any good info.

I am in so. cal.

www.car-part.com ? National salvage yard search engine

FWIW, I used one of those national part searches; I don’t think it was this particular one, but probably all the same. You get automated responses saying they have the parts, then you call and find out otherwise. Plus the Spambots get your e-mail.

I'm looking too, and can't find a 100 in any California salvage yard. Even the "Toyota Specialist" yards tell me, "LandCruiser? we don't get those here very often". I keep hearing Colorado everytime I look. I've even bought used parts from Slee Offroad, try giving them a call and ask. Or maybe they can steer you in the right direction. Slee Offroad info here

It looks like you are missing the wiring. The harness looks like it plugs into the bottom of the black servo motor. The whole wiring is missing from your picture. I would look up in your dash & under the servo motor for the wires. Hope this helps.

www.car-part.com does work very well in my experience. I've used it several times to locate hard to find parts that I couldn't locate in my local yards.

I just searched for "heater/ac control assy" and about 20 LC's show up. What they consider the control assy likely isn't what you are looking for, but at least you've found the LC's now. The prices on there are negotiable as well (at least in my experience).

When I find a couple yards that have the part I'm looking for, I just give them a call and inquire about it.

Thanks guys

:) Thanks for all the helpful posts. I was beginning to lose faith in the forum. Although, that is probably a misplaced annoyance. You wouldn't believe my ebay horror saga regarding this car.
But once you've bonded to your car, well you know...

Did you look for the connections? Are they there?

missing wiring sub harness and actuator

wiring sub harness missing (A). It's short. It also doesn't have the actuator lever/s (B) to connect to the plastic levers under the heater box.

Looking back at your picture on your first post, it looks as if maybe the plastic has jumped of the servo’s control arm. Have you tried to remove the servo controller or tried using an inspection mirror to see if the metal arm there at all? I’m thinking the arm is retracted and not visible in you picture. (Your white plastic piece looks way out of place possibly just popped off and pushed out of the way).

FWIW, In my picture the fresh air is in the recirculation position, but not sure what tempture setting it was on.

Too short? Can you trace down the wire and see if it’s hung up on something under the dash?

missing parts

Dean,
It was a pain to get the 3rd screw off, but I removed the servo motor. I may post a photo later. WHere's that camera?...

It's missing the linkage / actuator that attaches the motor to the white plastic actuators under the heater box. The wiring sub harness is gone, gone, gone.

It is the result of a Mickey Mouse repair (no offense to Mickey) when someone tried to avoid removing the dash in order to replace the air bag computer. I bought the car this way, but that's my ebay sad saga.

I am trying to find a heater box assembly that contains everything. I wish I knew if the heat exchanger box is the same on any other vehicles...:crybaby:

You should go to a local Toyota parts person and look at the diagrams and see if has the same part # or call C-Dan and try to verify what year models will fit.
Unfortunately there are so many people that don’t have any pride in there workmanship anymore. Too bad it had to happen to you.

Air Mix Servo Motor sans hardware

This the culprit. Need short wire harness and actuator.
Still searching for a heater box with the needed piece:eek:

Tried to reply to your PM, but you need to empty the folder before anyone can send you a PM! Better yet, just get the Silver Star!

Silver star

Yeah, I figure its worth it. I think this forum is a wealth of information worth its weight in cyber gold. I did delete the messages though...

I still need help finding the actuator for the air mix servo pictured above. I still haven't found a source. :crybaby:

Have you tried Partznet.com? Call Cdan, I would imagine he could solve that in no time.
