Knock Sensor (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know how the knock sensors work? I took one of mine out and looked at it and I can't understand how it works.

Also, it seems to have a shielded wire that ends about 5 inches from the connector plug. I've been messing with it ever since I got the P0330 code and can't get it to go away.

I spliced on a new connector from Cdan and still get the P0330 code.
