and beware, many times they come back a few weeks later once they've scoped out what else can be grabbed and give some time for you to replentish stuff they can get again. i have a coworker that is a flea market hound. i'll give him a heads up too.

Thanks for being on the lookout guys! This is NO fun whatsoever. Do yourselves a favor, and fire up your fancy digital cameras and start photo-documenting EVERYTHING you have in the garage that you value. Many of my items were hand-me-downs from dad, graduation gifts, or long-ago purchases without receipts any longer. Photos are the only thing that will save my ass now when it comes time to haggle with the insurance company. PLEASE lock down your stuff, engage the slide-lock on your garage doors. My stuff can be replaced, but convincing my pregnant wife that our house is still safe is proving to be difficult...

Please call me immediately if you think you spot any of my stuff!

I'm not sure if this helps, but consider getting an alarm installed. I use Modern Security Systems, 891-2245. Monitoring is $20 per month paid quarterly. My house already had the alarm installed when I moved in, so I didn't have to pay for that.

There is also an annual permit from APD for $25-$30 , to cover expense of the inevitable false-alarms. This only applies if it is monitored.

Ryan,

Sucks mucho. I'll keep an eye out for your stuff as I'm looking for other stuff on CL. In the mean time, if you need to use my tools, let me know.

Oh yeah, get a dog for the wife if that makes her feel better about security around the house.

I live in a elderly qiet neighborhood in rio rancho. My pos chevy truck was broken into for a broken xm and change in the ash tray. There is no where safe. besides, thugs dont rob in the ghetto, they go to nice parts of town for nicer loot. Alarms, lights, dogs, locks and (if needed) guns i think are the way to go. sorry to hear about the robberies and good luck guys in recovering your stuff.
