just saying hi (new to the forum) and door hinge question

Well I have been checking this forum out for awhile now and I find it truly amazing. Weeding through all the versions of cruisers is mind boggling and I think the only way to do it effectively is through this......thank God for the web. Well hope to have lots to add in the years to come and as I complete my '85 BJ70 build.

I had one question though about rear door hinges on the 85 BJ70's. Anyone know whether other series fits on the doors as there is some terrible play in them and new ones are not available from the dealer.......big surprise. Other option is to pound in new shafts in.

Call G and S - they should have some hinges for you.

Probably the troop carrier but I remember a wrecker saying he had tried to swap other cruiser hinges such as 70,60 and 80 series with no luck.
They look like they will work ....until you try them

Thanks guys, yeah been in touch with the G&S boys. Other option is to just find a good ol 70 in a yard somewhere with good hinges.

The shaft in the hinge is of a larger diameter in the centre of the hinge, the hinges are essembled and then welded.You would have to drill the shaft out with a larger drill bit ( might be tricky)
