picked up my 88 FJ62 at end of 2019. Been tinkering with a few things. Afraid the frame is waaay too rusty. We will see. Anyways, the few things I’ve done so far is bc of the help I’ve been able to find on this forum. Thanks!

Welcome. Looks can be deceiving, nice rig. Get underneath and post some pictures. The northeast and midwest members will let you know right away on your frame rust.

The body looks to be in fantastic shape. If the frame really is gone, dropping it on a new one wouldn't be the worst.

Topside looks like a respray to me. If the chassis is shot I'd not be surprised if there were other things hiding under the paint. but It looks good in that photo and if any body work was done properly hopefully its a non issue.

Fresh paint about a year ago. It spent most of its time in the NE so def has rust issues. I’ll get some pics out. It’s my first and prob didn’t give it as much of a look over as I should’ve. Was just too eager to get started on a project

You never know, it may turn out just fine. There are some folks here who have patched may a frame and body panel and have made tons of pics for reference.

I've seen way worse than that. They all have rust issues. Just protect it from getting any worse. Good looking truck man. Congrats.

Yeah, a good candidate for a thorough hot oil undercoating and then just drive it until it really breaks.
