I'm new to this forum and Land Cruisers. I picked up this 1969 FJ40 from the original owner. Well, technically not the original owner. He bought it when he was 71 years old and passed it on to his grandson. I got it from him. Pretty much all original. No major plans yet, but I do want to get the few missing parts back on it: stock exhaust, stock tail lights, and choke knob. Yeah, that's all that was missing. This thing is a time capsule. It has the original owners manual with a survey filled out by the buyer in '69. There's even a hand-written letter from the salesman to the buyer thanking him for fixing his teeth and included instructions on removing the emissions crap (which is still in there, so he never did it). I'll have to get pictures of this stuff. It even has the original dealer sticker on the back from Billings, Montana.
I have a few questions for the experts. Why doesn't it have locking front hubs? Are those stock hubcaps? Why do some of these have floor shift, but this one is column shift? The four wheel engages by pulling a knob. That's it. But I see some have floor shifters and locking hubs, so I'm confused.
