    Hello Guys and Gals,

Just bought a 1993 80 series. Bone stock except for ARB front bumper.
Truck has 185K on it, in very clean condition. Going for an off-road vehicle with on-road driveabilty.
    Any help for the newbie?
All would be appreciated. Where to start? Where to start?

    Thanks in advance..

    Whitey

    Where should you start?

Make sure you've got a comfortable chair at your computer while you spend hours reading IH8MUD fourm posts.

    Start with the links above.

The typical maintanence things include birfield repacks, pesky heater hoses, and putting $$$ of Mobil One in everything except your coffee cup. (Insert smiley face here.)

Bottomless supply of good information and friendly folks around here.
It's always good to do a search first.

    Welcome.

My suggestion is to resist to overwhelming urge to modify.
    Complete your baseline PM.
Keep smaller tires for better MPG (stock 275's)
If you are going to really get hard on it then get some bias ply offroad dedicated paws.
    Sliders, stout rear bumper

fzj80kidpen has a good point, just don't be stupid like I was with no mods: My carnage so far is both rockers crushed (Can touch the door seal on the driver side... with the door shut.), passenger front fender dented, both front flares now held on with sticky tape (doesn't work that well BTW), crushed and twisted exhaust, and a very twisted front bumper... :whoops:

    Congrats.

Baseline it, get parts from C-Dan, and enjoy it for years to come.
