I was reading an Aussie 4wd mag last night and they state that one of the 80's downfalls is the low diff breather and it should be extended. Apparently the stock height is 12"

If I'm going through water deeper than this, should I bother extending? Where exactly are the breathers located anyway?

Thank you.

Look on the axle housing for the tubes that are coming off of it.

One for each axle.

Also, the breather tubes for the tranny and tcase are on the tranny dipstick tube.

Yep, axle housing. Two hoses that fit over two hose barbs. They run up and bolt to the frame.

In this picture, it's on top of the axle just to the left of the pumpkin. Should have a rubber tube coming out of it that attaches to the frame.

Nice, rust free picture Jacket.

This is a picture looking from the back of the truck (spare tire area) forward. Is this the rear diff breather? Hose goes straight up to and stops at the body.

to the left with the little hose clamp?

Like a lot of ppl have done I extended the front diff up to the brake booster. I tee'd the tranny/transfer together into one that goes up next to the front diff one.

The rear diff I routed up underneath the gas cap area.
