Hi All,

I lost my earlier question on this but I received some help from the great guys on this forum and the local guru.

I was having trouble with a touchy throttle. Low range and corrugations meant a ride blessed with harmonic jumping. Someone on this forum suggested I attach a spring somewhere in-line as the 1hz produces power by introducing more fuel. If I wanted less pedal oomph, then this might be a solution.

Well it WORKS GREAT. I made a bracket that I could attach a spring to. I took a piece of 1/8 in thick flat aluminum and cut and drilled it to fit onto the three bolts that hold the assembly for the throttle cable to the exhaust manifold. I then attached a generic throttle return spring found at the local auto parts store. Total time was about an hour to make the bracket, source the spring and then attach it.

One end of the spring loops around the end of the push rod that forces opemn the lever on the fuel pump and the other attaches to my bracket.

I initially put on two springs. This made for a VERY stiff pedal and cramp in the foot after I made a 3 hour run. But it handled the corrugations well.

Yesterday, I did about 120 km on trails at various speeds and only used one spring. I had very precise control and no cramp.

Highly useful $3.00 mod. Apparently this might help out the 12ht dudes too.

Cheers,

John
